The Beach Clubs of Positano, Italy
BAGNI D'ARIENZO
This was by far my favorite beach day in Positano. Bagni d'Arienzo opens at 10am and closes at 6:30pm. Beach access cost €12.50 per person and includes sunloungers, umbrella, shower, changing room, toilet and shuttle boat service from/to Positano. We headed down to Spiaggia Grande for breakfast at 8:30am because we made reservations right at 10am when the club opens. You'll definitely want to make reservations if you want chairs on the front row and a table for lunch. While the beach is small, all the chairs will fill up. Even if you get there when they open, without reservations they'll still seat you on the second or third row and there is no guarantee you'll have a table for lunch. Not the end of the world but something to keep in mind.
After breakfast (you can read here where we ate on Spiaggia Grande) we walked down to the dock where the ferry is and waited for the boat that said Bagni d'Arienzo. The boat arrives at the dock every 30 minutes from 10am-1pm and 3:30pm-6:30pm. I recommend getting to the dock about 10 minutes early because we noticed the boat sometimes arrived and left early.
Once you're on the boat, enjoy the 5 minute ride! It's short but oh so lovely. At 10am, we were the only passengers on the boat. Photo opp!

Once we arrived, we were escorted to our front row chairs and umbrella. The chairs even had a facial shade panel for those who want to steer clear of the sun.
We ordered drinks and snacks that were delivered to our chairs. This was the only time I had limoncello in Positano!

Every table had an amazing view of the beach and the food was great! The menu consisted of pasta, seafood and salads.

There is also a free area of the beach that does not have access to the beach club's facilities and it can only be reached by foot as the boat service is included in Bagni d'Arienzo's fees.
Paid or free, this beach even has cliff diving! Matt took a few turns jumping off the 30 foot wall.

Overall, we LOVED our day at Bagni d'Arienzo and highly recommend it!
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
1. The fee for chairs and umbrellas is 12.50 Euro per person.
2. A table for lunch is by reservation only.
3. Bring towels.
4. Wear water safe shoes as this is a rocky beach so it's hard to walk on!
5. Arrive early for the boat service.
6. While it is family friendly, we noticed there were predominantly adults.
SPIAGGIA GRANDE
| Spiaggia Grande is Positano's most famous beach and for that reason it can get VERY crowded. That might not be the worst thing, though. After all, you have the view of the mediterranean and tons of restaurants and bars in walking distance. This beach is located in the center of Positano and can be reached by foot. It is extremely family friendly so bring the kiddos! Reserving chairs and umbrellas will cost 12.50 Euro per person. We didn't spend any time at this beach because of the crowds but we did walk down at 9:45am and no one was around. This club opens at 10am, as well. In general, the crowds come out around 11:30/12:00 so definitely go early! |

LA SCOGLIERA
This is a beach club that I didn't know existed until I stumbled across it while in Positano and it makes me SO sad that we didn't get to visit! Unfortunately, when I was researching beach clubs in Positano, this one never came up in any Google searches but it looks AMAZING.
La Scogliera is a beach club and restaurant located directly next to Spiaggia Grande but it's positioned behind Rada Restaurant in the cliffs so it feels more secluded. I discovered it when we had dinner at Rada, which you can read about here.
I don't know much about this club because we discovered it too late and didn't have time to go but from what I've read on the website and walking through it, it should definitely be on your list of things to do in Positano. It appears to be open to the public. I would imagine it's very much like Bagni d'Arienzo in that you need to make a reservation. There is an email on their website to make reservations.
While Spiaggia Grande is very family friendly, La Scogliera seemed more luxurious for couples or groups of friends.
There isn't much information listed on their website so I recommend emailing for details.
