My Office Transformation // Before + After
MY OFFICE WAS A DISASTER...
That's actually an understatement. My office looked like a tornado had blown threw and I just couldn't deal anymore. A year and a half ago, I quit my corporate job to pursue building a photography business. At first, I just needed a place to sit and edit photos but over the last year, it's grown from simply editing to running a successful business. My room with a computer evolved into an office space with shipping boxes, photography studio equipment and so, so much more. This neat freak realized one day she was working in a disaster zone and it HAD to change.
HELLO, IKEA!
Alright, I'm running a small business here. As much as I love The Container Store and West Elm, I had to update the space on a serious budget. There's no shame in IKEA! I actually love the Scandinavian style so combined with the steals of deals, IKEA was a match made in heaven.
ORGANIZATION
These tall IKEA Billy Bookshelves are perfect for housing paper, shipping materials, and inventory. The frosted doors are Morliden and the center shelving unit is Kallax. Plus, I have a TV in my office now! I used to turn the TV on in the living room to hear the news. It might be a 26in but it's a major upgrade for me!
I have an open closet so I wanted to it to look as organized as possible. These Dröna storage cubes were a no brainer. I printed labels from avery.com and I could feel my blood pressure drop. Anyone else get crazy anxiety when it's messy?!
Mug from Anthropologie
When I saw these blush storage boxes, I couldn't resist! In my desk, they hold all of the things I need on a daily basis but don't necessarily want to look at. Pretty in pink!
My husband is the reader in the family and, until now, these books were stacked on the floor...for 4 years! It was time to give them a home. The Kallax bookshelf is a perfect fit. We bought two and stacked them on top of each other for extra storage. I added some flowers, The Fashion Book and a travel photo for a feminine touch. Shhh! Don't tell him.
THE GALLERY WALL
This was definitely the most fun part of the whole process. As a travel photographer, I wanted to incorporate prints from all of my favorite destinations we've traveled to over the last few years. I started with
my favorite print of Greece and designed the wall based on the colors in that print. Lots of pastel pinks and blues.
FRAMING
I bought all of these frames at IKEA, as well. If you're working on a giant gallery wall and need an affordable option, these are your frames. While they're not the highest of quality, they still look great in a gallery wall.
The majority of the white frames are Fiskbo for only $3.99 each for size 12x16in. The 16x20in option is only $4.99! This frame is wood.
(Size 12x16 is a weird size here in the states. It's not a size I offer in the Print Shop but I am happy to print this size if you want it. Just contact me!)
The Ribba is a little higher quality at $9.99 and fits a 16x20in print with a mat. This frame is wood.
Lomviken is my favorite of them all but was the most expensive at $19.99 for size 16x20in. Size 19.75x27.5 fits a 16x20in with the mat. I also bought this frame in size 12.5x 12.5 to hold an 8x8 print.
I wanted my new home office to be a space I would be excited to get to every day. I truly believe a space that feels like you and/or your business will help you to be your most productive or relaxed self. Thanks for stopping by and checking out my space. It has transformed into a space I absolutely LOVE. I hope you like it too! Feel free to leave a comment if you have questions or just want to say hi!
UNTIL NEXT TIME,
