Cabo's Secret Beach You Have to Visit

A secluded slice of heaven!

HOW TO GET THERE

Getting there is easy. Visit the marina downtown and look for a tourism kiosk. They'll try to sell their sunset boat cruises which are quite expensive, but decline and ask for a boat ride to Lovers Beach. It should cost about $20 USD roundtrip. You can also book a boat at Cachet Beach Club.

We met our boat driver at the marina and he shuttled us down to the beach to catch our ride. The boat ride was about 20 minutes and he dropped us off right on the beach. On the way there, you'll stop at El Arco de Cabo - the famous arch at the southern most tip of Cabo San Lucas - for a photo opportunity.

WHEN TO GO

Go early. We visited at the end of January and got to the beach around 10am. At this time no one was on the beach yet. We left around one and a couple dozen people had filtered in. The beach is quite large, though, so even with two dozen people, it still felt very secluded.

KEEP IN MIND

There are no facilities on the beach so bring towels, water, and food. There isn't much shade either so if you need an umbrella, this might not be the best beach to hang out for a while.

Consider the current before getting in the water. The under toe can be extremely strong.

Bring some Dramamine if you get seasick! The waters can be choppy and even 20 minutes of boat rocking made my stomach queasy.

Let your boat driver know what time to come pick you up. Stay 30 minutes or hours! It's up to you.

HOTELS TO MENTION

AFFORDABLE - Bahia Hotel & Beach House

PROS - I can't explain how much I loved this hotel and especially at the super affordable price! I had a girls' weekend here in mid May and the rates were about $169 a night for the Run of the House room. The rooms are renovated and, in my opinion, felt very luxurious. The restaurant was fantastic and there was even a delightful bakery and coffee shop attached to the restaurant. The pool was quiet and there was also a swim up bar. We didn't see too many children at this hotel - it was more couples and friends. This hotel is close to downtown Cabo San Lucas just off Medano Beach and everything you want is in walking distance - the beach, bars, and restaurants.

CONS - This hotel is NOT on the beach. It's a block behind the beachfront hotels, but with that said, it was SO close to everything. We walked to multiple beach clubs and restaurants during our stay. You will have to pay for access to the beach clubs, so you might want to consider that when comparing hotel prices. SUR Beach House is affiliated with this hotel but you'll still pay $25 per person for a chair and umbrella. The chairs do not recline completely so they weren't the most comfortable. We ended up renting one of the daybeds, which required purchasing a bottle of wine. Be sure to clarify the price of the bottle and/or daybed rental. They "misquoted" us so we ended up paying a lot more than we expected.

I highly recommend this hotel and would stay again.

HIGHER END - ME Cabo

This hotel is beautiful and has an ideal location but you'll definitely pay more. It's located right on the beach so no need to hunt down beach clubs. Rates for the Aura room at the end of May begin at about $300 per night. The pool can get crazy with a DJ and Bachelor/ette parties. It's fun if you're wanting that but if you're looking for a romantic getaway, just email the hotel before booking to ensure there aren't any events happening during your stay.

Overall, it makes for a great stay. It's right on the beach and you can walk down the beach to get to my favorite Cabo restaurants, The Office and Edith's.
