An All Inclusive Beach Vacation Adults Only Resort in Mexico
Published by: Heather Loriece
In early April 2021, the CDC announced that fully vaccinated individuals may travel freely. As a travel photographer who hadn't flown in 13 months, this was very welcomed news! We immediately booked tickets and hopped on a plane to Mexico. Dipping my toes in the ocean with a strawberry daiquiri in hand couldn't come fast enough.
BELOVED PLAYA MUJERES
We live in Dallas, Texas and Cancun is only a little over a 2 hour flight. I found Beloved Playa Mujeres, a couples only resort right on the beach just north of Cancun. Though the resort is "couples only" we did see several non-couples at the resort, so don't let that deter you from staying. It is, however, not a party hotel. It is a chic boutique resort that promotes tranquility. It was actually the perfect balance between serenity and a good time. On the weekend, there was a DJ at the pool playing house music. It was perfect. Beloved Playa Mujeres is just a quick 30 minute drive from Cancun International Airport.
I can't say enough good things about this resort. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. My husband and I have traveled a lot and stayed at some pretty swanky places but have never been taken care of so well. Upon arrival, we were greeted with sparkling wine. Check in was quick. Our room wasn't ready yet, because we arrived at 10am, so the receptionist offered us a hospitality suite to use until our room was ready. The hospitality suite had a balcony that overlooked one of the pools. It was so nice to change into a swim suit and freshen up.
ACCOMODATIONS
Every room at Beloved had a balcony with ocean or pool views and there were seven casitas with four suites per casita.
We stayed in the two story terrace casita room with a plunge pool and it was AMAZING. Our suite was on the second story so we had an ocean view. Of the seven casitas, the second story suites in these casitas had the best ocean view.
Casitas in order of best view: Consentida, Linda, Hermosa, and Cariñosa.
Casitas, Bella and Bonita had an ocean view but there were a lot of trees possibly blocking the ocean. Tierna casita did have an ocean view but the restaurant is directly in front of the casita partially blocking the ocean view.
At the time of our stay, rates started around 1700 USD for four nights in a basic room. All food, drinks and alcoholic beverages were included.
The casitas are an upgraded room, so rates are higher.
The room was stocked with an all inclusive mini bar, but there was nothing mini about it! It included full bottles of rum, vodka, whiskey, red and white wine. There was also chips, M&Ms, Snickers, Nespresso coffee, etc. They even had a bottle of sparkling wine and fruit awaiting our arrival.
WHAT WE LOVED
Truly, everything! Here's the rundown of everything that impressed us.
Food allergies: At checkin, we were asked about our food allergies and every server at every meal automatically accommodated our needs. The chef even came out at breakfast one morning to ask if I would like gluten free pancakes and french toast since it wasn't on the menu. Umm what?! That was a solid yes.
Our room included a dental kit with Colgate toothpaste and Bvlgari toiletries.
They used quality alcohol and every drink was properly made. No weak drinks here!
THE BEACH
The beach set up was absolutely beautiful and really felt like paradise. The lounge chairs and palapas were all high quality and the service was top notch. We always had a drink in hand and food was delivered right to our palapa. I ordered the shrimp tacos and french fries a few times! So good.
The one and only drawback for this whole resort was the amount of seaweed on the beach. It was even on the sea floor which felt weird walking through. The water wasn't super clear either but, overall, it was still so beautiful and entirely enjoyable. There was a tractor that came through every now and then and swept up the seaweed. Just wanted to give you a heads up. If you're looking for pristine blue water, you might want to look into the Caribbean.
THE POOLS
The resort had three pools, one of which has a swim up bar. This pool, however, was the smallest with only about seven loungers, each for two people. The other two pools were connected to the main resort rooms. The rooms on the ground floor were swim up. Those pools were very quiet, so we spent a day at one and had the whole pool to ourselves.
GETTING THERE
We booked a private airport shuttle directly through the hotel. It costs about 120 USD roundtrip and our driver was waiting for us when we arrived at the airport. The same transportation company picked us up at the hotel for our departure, as well.
My Takeaways
We absolutely loved everything about our stay at Beloved Playa Mujeres and would visit again in a heartbeat! I highly recommend the two story casita with a plunge pool if it's in your budget. We loved sitting up there after a long day of lounging by the ocean.
COVID INFORMATION
As of April 15, 2021
Mexico does not require a negative covid test before arriving, however, you are required to test negative up to 3 days before returning to the U.S. Beloved offers complimentary testing on site and you'll receive your test results via email. Once you receive your results, upload it into the VeriFly app. Your results in the app will be required at checkin with all airlines. Please note, the VeriFly app requires 24 hours to review your results so upload them as soon as you get them.
When we booked, if we were to test positive, the resort offered a complimentary stay for up to 14 days with no additional charges. Be sure to confirm this with the hotel before you book.
The serenity of this resort is everything we needed and I hope you get a moment of serenity, as well.
¡Viva México!
